Ancient Kauri Bowl 026

Intense burly and curly wood in this bowl. Strong shimmer, especially when polished up.

You may see the white area that looks like a crack in the face of this bowl. This is a “check” in the surface of this piece (don’t worry! It is still very strong!) The white is “rinsed-out” Kauri-sap in this check, meaning it developed when the tree was still alive, and the sap would be an indication of the tree starting to heal itself. Very cool, and a rare find!

This bowl is 4 inches high and 8 inches is the largest diameter.

From the 2021 Collection, one of 350 bowls.

When this bowl is sold, it will never be replaced.

If you are interested in wood-turning, this piece has sturdy thick walls and very consistent grain – perfect for re-chucking into the lathe!
