“The Nautilus”

Inspired by the classic and graceful spiral of life of the Chambered Nautilus, which has been living in the earth’s oceans for more than 500 million years, it symbolizes life’s unfolding mysteries.

Feminine in nature, it shows the dynamic relationship of our selves and nature. It speaks to the harmonics of nature and the basic building blocks of the universe. A beautiful representation of the natural energy patterns used to create and unify all things.

This sculpture was started, but never finished, more than ten years ago by an artist in New Zealand. It is now fully acclimated to our North American climate and ready to be finished and shown. This piece will be turning heads and delighting imaginations wherever it resides.

Because this is a fully 3D sculpture, the exquisite curves are ready to be admired from any angle. How would you show it off? Standing upright and close to the floor? Elevated to eye level with a custom stand? Perhaps suspended from above. We are happy to help with the design that will show this amazing piece in your specific location.

The inherent luster and iridescence of Ancient Kauri is ready to shine through. Although it is not difficult, finishing this piece will take time, focus and effort. Thoughtful and careful sanding will make this beautiful piece of wood ready to take on it’s final finish.

The graceful curves and size will capture peoples eyes. As they draw closer they will be surprised to realize that this is a single piece of wood. The final surprise will be when they learn that this unique and singular piece of wood is more than 50,000 years old. It’s interesting to watch people try to get their head around that fact.
